Pacific 2017

Pacific 2017 banner

Defence Industries Queensland joined Queensland's leading naval defence and commercial maritime suppliers to showcase our state's sea capabilities to key national and international decision makers at the Pacific 2017 International Maritime Exposition.

Pacific, the only comprehensive maritime expo in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region, brings together industry, government and defence professionals from around the world for three days to showcase the latest in maritime technology and capability.

Joining us at Pacific 2017 to promote our state's maritime industry were:

  • AirBerth is a developer of floating boat lift systems and was awarded the 2015 Maritime Australia Limited Industry Innovation Award.

  • BSE Maritime Solutions provides ship repair, maintenance and refit services to defence, government, commercial, tourism, and luxury clients across eastern and northern Australia. BSE's team of highly skilled and experienced tradespeople—working across their two large haul-out shipyards, located in Brisbane and Cairns—provides a full range of ship services including haul out and dry dock, class approved hull and structural, protective coatings, engineering and fabrication, mechanical fitting and machinery maintenance, and electrical and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning).

  • BtB Marine specialises in the construction of commercial aluminium vessels up to 15 metres for the maritime industry and government.

  • EM Solutions designs and manufactures technologically superior microwave terrestrial and satellite equipment, including E-band microwave links and a multi-band satcom-on-the-move system.

  • The Great Barrier Reef International Marine College is a maritime training facility in Cairns with a full mission bridge simulator, multi-purpose emergency response training simulator, sea survival training immersion pool, two training vessels, and navigation labs.

  • iXblue Pty Ltd provides accurate survey and monitoring of the total marine eco-system to government agencies, oil and gas companies, telecommunications companies, port and harbour authorities, renewable energy companies, and defence organisations around the world.

  • Megapulse manufactures a Patented Pulse Technology which reduces down-time in vessels, vehicles and equipment by drastically reducing battery degradation. The technology has helped Volvo, Scania, Mercedes and MAN in Europe to reduce electrical system faults in their vehicles, from an average of 50%, down to below 1%, and increase on-board battery service-life, from an average of two years to more than five years. As a result, these OEM manufacturers have fitted over 150,000 new commercial vehicles with Megapulse Technology. For mission critical and high cost of failure applications, the technology becomes indispensable. Megapulse manufactures their technology in ISO9001 accredited facilities in Australia and has been developing Pulse Technology since 1995.

  • Norship Marine offers maritime asset refit and repair services for a range of defence, government and commercial partners. Services include haul out, hardstand, project and asset management, engineering and naval architects, fabrication and class-certified welding, blast and painting, application of specialist surface coatings, fitting and machining, shipwright, electrical, hydraulic, plumbing, HVAC, and other associated trade services. Operating from five sites across Northern Australia—with four travel lifts from 40t to 400t; extensive serviced hardstands; fully enclosed blast and paint sheds; and engineering, fabrication, electrical, shipwright and hydraulic workshops—Norship employs highly experienced and competent staff with a long work history in ship building, ship repair and maintenance, and heavy industry projects.

  • The Schiebel Group of companies focuses on the development, testing and production of high-tech VTOL Unmanned Air Systems (UAS) and state-of-the-art mine detection equipment. Throughout the years—and especially due to the success of its top product, the revolutionary unmanned helicopter CAMCOPTER® S-100 UAS—the company has built an international reputation for producing quality products backed by exceptional after-sales service and support.

  • STEYR Motors provides a range of motors for the marine and automotive industries. The company offers environmentally-friendly hybrid solutions that deliver low-speed manoeuvring, as well as automotive diesel engines used extensively in military and light commercial operations.

  • TAE Aerospace is the largest 100% Australian-owned aerospace company with the broadest range of aerospace products and services.

  • The Yard Brisbane offers a wide range of marine services for superyachts and commercial and recreational vessels including boat building, vessel refit and repair, project management, fabrication, manufacturing, antifouling and maintenance.

  • Thompson Couplings is an Australian designed and patented manufacturer of high quality, reliable and durable alignment eliminator couplings and constant velocity joints which can be used across the Defence platform in land, air and naval applications.

  • Tropical Reef Shipyard (TRS) offers a range of refit and maintenance services including electrical and mechanical fitting, hydraulic repairs, aluminium and steel fabrication, spray-painting, and machining. TRS can cater slipping of vessels up to 3000-tonne capacity.

Pacific 2017 will be held at the Sydney International Convention Centre from 3-5 October, 2017.
