Wide Bay Burnett Infrastructure Plan

The Queensland Government has made a government election commitment to develop new regional plans that cover every corner of the state in conjunction with infrastructure plans that protect the lifestyle of our communities and appropriately cater for growth, in partnership with local governments.

More than 300,000 people call the Wide Bay Burnett region home and with an additional 48,500 people moving to this region by 2041, we are carefully planning and prioritising for the future.

This region is known for agriculture, manufacturing, renewable energy and tourism, and the Wide Bay Burnett Infrastructure Supplement (WBBIS) is helping deliver key priorities for the region, shaped by consultation.

The WBBIS supports the Wide Bay Burnett Regional Plan and together they support the region’s identified economic opportunities in key sectors and regional liveability. Future updates to regional infrastructure planning for Wide Bay Burnett will occur through the Infrastructure Appendix of the Statutory Regional Plan.

The WBBIS will inform the strategic planning of all levels of government, business and industry to support a more coordinated approach to sequencing and prioritising infrastructure planning and investment.

The WBBIS will be reviewed as part of the new regional plan for the area.

As the central agency for infrastructure and economic development, DSDIP will continue to work across Queensland Government to support a more place-based approach to infrastructure planning to ensure it contributes to the realisation of key priorities.

The WBBIS review will be DSDIP in consultation with key regional stakeholders.
